Ecological mortar

General introduction: the product

The Soloeco system consists of a water-based, single-component, acrylic ecological mortar, suitable for smoothing and finishing continuous decorative surfaces.

The product is obtained through the use of mortars based on noble polymers in aqueous suspension, spheroidal quartz sands, and organic additives free of cement and epoxy resins.

The material is suitable for use on vertical and horizontal surfaces, baths, shower cubicles, bathroom furniture, etc. and for tiling existing ceramic surfaces.

Due to the absence of epoxy or cementitious materials, the system enjoys exceptional flexibility and excellent plasticity that contribute to zero crack formation.

Raw materials and production

All our raw materials are produced in Italy at a short distance from the final processing site with full traceability of every single element. The entire production cycle is characterised by the absence of fumes and almost zero waste thanks to the complete reuse of waste.
Reduced travel and transport contributes to the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions into the environment. The disposal of raw materials and the finished product is coded as non-hazardous. Products are not subject to ADR/RID transport and can also be transported by air.

Technical features

Soloeco mortar provides a unique and continuous appearance to treated surfaces, lending itself to the coating, in civil and commercial environments, of
• Cement or anhydrite screeds
• Cement plasters
• Existing ceramic coverings, glass mosaic, marble, natural stone
• Gypsum-based plasters
• Plasterboard panels, fibre cement panels
• PVC panels
• Multilayer wood panels, LDF/MDF/HDF, phenolic, etc.
• Aluminium

The product is characterised by its high mechanical resistance to foot and wheel traffic and provides a high degree of waterproofing to the treated surfaces.

Colours

Soloeco produces its ecological mortar in any colour. Currently it has codified a range of 80 shades divided into colour palettes to facilitate the creation of mood boards by architects and interior designers. The Soloeco colour archive grows year by year.

Soloeco can produce specific samples within a few days and send them to the customer wherever he is. Each sample has a code corresponding to the colour and finish formulation. The colour codes are kept in the Soloeco archive so that they can always be reproduced. Soloeco can be formulated to sample and is available in all shades of the NCS and RAL scales.

Finishes

The LUCIDA finish gives Soloeco® surfaces the classic ‘wet’ effect by making the base colour slightly darker and more reflective.

The SATIN finish characterises Soloeco® surfaces, making them semi-glossy and “soft” to the touch, highlighting the signs of processing.

The MATT finish makes Soloeco® surfaces perfectly matt and uniform. It is ideal for capturing light and emphasising the plasticity of shapes.

Texture

MALTA 02 is the finest mortar in the range: The diameter of the aggregates of about two-tenths of a millimetre makes it possible to create smooth surfaces, where the signs of processing are hardly noticeable while retaining a plastic appearance. It is velvety to the touch and easy to clean.

MALTA 04 and MALTA 06 are the intermediate grain sizes in the range: The diameter of the aggregates of about four to six tenths of a millimetre makes it possible to create smooth surfaces, where the characteristic signs of workmanship are visible while remaining pleasant to the touch and easy to clean.
It is currently our best-selling texture.

MALTA 08 is the most structured surface in the range: The diameter of the aggregates of about eight tenths of a millimetre makes it possible to create smooth surfaces with a toned appearance and a strong character.

Mix

SOLOQUARZ is obtained by adding fine quartz sand to the Soloeco base mix, obtaining a very natural final effect that recalls the historical finishes of Italian architecture.

SOLOGRANIGLIA is obtained by adding natural marble grit to the Soloeco® base mix, obtaining a compact and resistant final surface similar to the typical flooring of the first half of the 20th century but reinterpreted in a modern key.

SOLOCOCCIO is obtained by adding cocciopesto to the Soloeco base mix, obtaining a final surface similar to the pastelone typical of historic Italian architecture. By varying the colour of the base mix, surprisingly modern and original results are obtained.

SOLOMAGMA is obtained by adding natural volcanic sand to the Soloeco base mix, obtaining a final surface speckled with black and particularly fine.

SOLOPERLA is obtained by adding flakes of natural mother-of-pearl to the Soloeco® base mix, obtaining a material and refined final surface.

SOLOMIKKA is obtained by adding natural mica to the Soloeco base mix, obtaining a structured final surface dotted with metallic-mineral elements.

SOLOMARMO is obtained by adding marble powder glazes to the Soloeco base mix, obtaining a particularly deep final surface similar to reconstructed stone.
